Roadside assistance in Washington, District of Columbia

When a vehicle needs help in Washington, DC, start with its current location and who controls access to it. A vehicle still parked where it stopped presents a different request from one moved to a tow lot or recovered by police. Tell Rezcues what you know, what remains uncertain and whether an authority or facility has already given collection instructions.

All service eligibility in Washington is unverified. Ask whether the specific vehicle, pickup and task can be considered before making arrangements. This page does not confirm a booking, arrival or permission to enter a controlled site. For immediate danger or an emergency, contact emergency services first.

Find the correct location before asking for another tow

DC DMV's vehicle-location page directs people who believe their vehicle has been towed to the Towing Control Dispatch Center at 202-541-6083. This is an existing-tow inquiry. It does not establish that a particular vehicle is held, that it can be released or that Rezcues can collect it. Official information: https://dmv.dc.gov/page/locate-towed-vehicle

MPD explains that recovered stolen vehicles are taken by private towing operators to their respective lots, with the recovering police district coordinating notification of the location. If you are following up on a recovered vehicle, confirm the named holding facility through that process rather than assuming it is at the Evidence Control office. Once the actual location is established, ask the holder about collection instructions and the person who can authorize access. Then discuss any onward transport separately. A police recovery notification, a location inquiry and a request to move the vehicle to your preferred destination are distinct steps.

Ten service categories to discuss

Light-duty towing

Describe the passenger vehicle's year, make, model and condition. Say whether it starts, rolls or steers, and mention damage or missing keys. Give the pickup entrance and proposed destination. If the vehicle is already at a tow lot, identify that lot and its collection contact. Ask whether the vehicle and location can be considered for a light-duty request.

Battery jump starts

Explain the no-start symptoms without assuming the cause. Tell the call handler about warning messages, previous start attempts and the vehicle's powertrain. For a garage pickup, include the level and posted clearance. Ask whether a jump-start assessment is suitable; this category does not promise a diagnosis, a restart, battery replacement or access to a facility holding the vehicle.

Flat tire assistance

Identify the affected tire, any visible wheel damage and whether a usable spare is available. Mention multiple damaged tires or a missing wheel-lock key. Ask whether on-site assistance can be assessed or transport should be discussed. Access conditions matter as well as the tire itself; this page does not provide repair instructions or assume work is permitted at the pickup.

Vehicle lockouts

Say whether the key is locked inside, lost or failing electronically. Give the make, model and year, and be prepared to confirm authority to request access through the provider's process. If someone else controls the vehicle or property, explain that. This category does not establish replacement-key services, programming or the ability to override a facility's access arrangements.

Emergency fuel

Provide the required fuel type and describe the symptoms that suggest an empty tank. Report a suspected leak or wrong fuel before requesting assistance. Ask whether a fuel request can be considered at the actual location. No fuel quantity, delivery commitment or restart outcome is established, and a fuel inquiry does not substitute for an electric-vehicle transport assessment.

Motorcycle towing

State the motorcycle's model, approximate size, condition and attachments. Explain whether it rolls and whether there is damage to a wheel or steering. If it is at a holding facility, get the correct collection point before discussing transport. A motorcycle-specific assessment is needed; a general passenger-car request does not establish suitable handling or site access.

Winch-out

Describe the vehicle's position, surface and known obstacles. Mention damage or private-property restrictions. Ask whether the situation can be reviewed for recovery without attempting to choose a method yourself. This category does not establish capability for a particular incline, obstruction or load, and a service inquiry does not grant permission to enter land or a controlled facility.

EV towing

Identify the EV model and distinguish a charging concern from a warning, damage or another fault. Tell the call handler whether it remains connected to charging equipment or cannot enter its usual transport state. Model-specific handling must be assessed. This category does not establish mobile charging, battery repair or authority to access a secured parking or charging location.

Medium-duty towing

For a larger work vehicle, provide its classification, dimensions, loaded condition and attached equipment or trailer. Explain the actual pickup entrance and any known clearance constraints. Ask whether a medium-duty request can be considered separately from light-duty transport. The vehicle's presence in a city or private lot does not establish suitable equipment or a collection authorization.

Motor Clubs, Insurance & Fleets

Explain who can approve the task and whether assistance has already been assigned. Have a case reference and organization contact ready. Ask the club, insurer or fleet about its own authorization and payment process before assuming a separate request is covered. No Rezcues contract, direct billing, reimbursement entitlement or dispatch-network membership is implied by this category.

Use a precise pickup description

Provide the full street address, including its directional designation, and explain which entrance reaches the vehicle. For a garage, add the level, posted clearance and access contact. If the vehicle has moved since the first inquiry, update the pickup rather than continuing with its former location. Confirm whether the receiving shop or facility has agreed to accept it, and identify who will handle the handover.
